If you haven’t seen the news lately, Wagga Wagga has had a very scary time in the past few weeks with a massive rain event causing flash flooding, and then rain in the mountains causing the river to rise to 10.6 meters a week later. The CBD was evacuated to ensure people’s safety if the levee bank did not hold or if the river overtopped the levee ( this would have caused a 3 story high wall of water to flood town). The CBD was fortunately spared, but other parts of Wagga Wagga (and surronds, including towns both upstream and downstream) were not. Some families have had 2 meters of water flow through their homes, leaving behind a soggy mess.
I could not get out to take photos due to the evacuation orders (we were high and dry and only isolated due to living out of town) but here is a photo of the Wagga Beach in 2010 when he river reached 7.6 meters . Imagine it a 10.6 meters!

The town spirit has been amazing and everyone has pitched in and helped. Whether it was sand bagging and providing dry beds or helping with the clean up once the waters receeded. The community has truely embraced the Australian mateship code. And we would like to do our bit to help.
Filmless Photos is making an offer to those who have been affected by the floods. I will be offering 3 families a FREE portrait session with 3 FREE 8×10 prints. (The word family is used for all its forms – couples, furbabies, singles, etc)
I know that it will not replace what you may have lost, but it may help with starting new memories. New photos to put on the freshly painted walls when the clean up is finished.
If you would like to be part of the offer or would like to nominate someone, please message me your details, including address, by the 30th March 2012 and I will take a random draw of names.
Much love to all of you xo

what a gorgeous photo! Glad you’re back
